The Test bay and calibration division of Tira Thai was awarded standard ISO/IEC 17025,
Tira Thai Test Bay Division
Tira Thai has two testing laboratories,

At Lab.1 we can test transformers up to 1 kVA - 5000 kVA.

At Lab.2 can test transformer capacity 1 kVA - 100 MVA.

The testing is divided in to three types of test,
The testing is done in reference to design standard or the requirement of the client, IEC 76,
IEEE C57.12, DIN, TIS, etc.
Tira Thai test bay division employ's persons, engineers and technicians that have knowledge and
experience in using measuring equipment's both H.V. and L.V.,
Measuring Equipment's will be calibrated and registered. They are traceable to The National
Laboratory.
Measuring Equipment's in test division will be calibrated by our Calibration Division.
Measuring Equipment's in Calibration Division will be calibrated at external laboratory that have
ISO/IEC 17025, National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), Thai Airways International Public Co., Ltd.,
KEMA Lab. Netherlands, etc.

The test hall is designed as Faraday's cage, it has an Impulse Generator set max. voltage 1400
kV max. energy 70 kJ, Chopping Gap 1200 kV, HV Testing transformer 0 - 250 kV, Auxiliary
transformer 4000 kVA, PD detector set and measuring equipment.
| The Testing Hall (Testfield) contains all
special equipment that is used testing
Electric transformers. We paid more
than 50 million Bath to set up this
standard laboratory. Some equipment is
designed and build at our own facilities
,such as HV Testing transformer that is
used in Applied potential test to step-up
AC voltage from 0 - 400 v (input) to 0
- 250 kV (output) and can cascade up
to 375 kV. We have a reactor used to
compensate the power factor in case of
testing big transformers that have high
capacitance. |

Tira Thai Lab. Employs an auxiliary transformer 4000 kVA 1500V/6.9/50 kV that can be
configured to be used in many levels of voltage and current.

Tira Thai also has a capacitor bank 16.5 MVAR that is used to compensate for power factor
when making short circuit or temperature rise test.

Tira Thai has a 500 kW generator adjustable frequency from 0 - 500 Hz for use in Induced
Voltage test and a 250 kW 200 Hz used in Partial Discharge Test.

Every set of equipment such as voltmeter, ammeter , wattmeter, Impulse Generator, etc. will be
calibrated periodically.
Electronics equipment is protected against damage by storing it in a controlled temperature
shielded room.
They are maintenanced and registered.

In Type Test, Tira Thai has special equipment. Tira Thai operators have knowledge and
experience. for Dielectric test or Impulse Test ( Lightning Impulse or switching Impulse) , we
purchased an Impulse Generator set series E from Haeferly Technology, Switzerland. This IG set
can produce a maximum impulse voltage of 1400 kV with a maximum energy 70 kJ This IG set
is used to test dielectric of the transformer, in case of Chopped wave test , we have a Chopping
Gap 1200 kV used to generate desired chopped wave.

For special tests we have bridge to measured capacitance and dissipation power factor of
dielectric of transformers, Tettex Instrument.

Measuring sound pressure level will be done in Tira Thais sound insulated test hall that is
designed to protect against sound from another place. We do have the appropriate area and
ambient condition for testing.

The durability of the transformers insulating system can be indicated by the PD level of the
dielectric of the electric transformer. Tira Thai lab. Has a Partial Discharge (PD) measuring set,
PD detector Type 561 and PD Analyzer, 50 kV from Haeferly, Switzerland.
This set includes programs for analyzing of faults in the of dielectric system of transformers.

Tira Thai Calibration Division
The equipment used in measuring must give a true reading, the same as, or as close as possible to
standard value. If the measuring equipment is not up to standard, the products will not be
standard too.
Tira Thai Calibration Division calibrates equipment that is used in Tira Thai Testing lab. And is
used in the factory. They are tractable to National lab. Tira Thai calibration lab. received ISO/IEC 17025
from TIS, this is standard that acceptance for laboratory.
